I love when i can fit in a model shoot. I still have so much work to catch up on, but this seems like a break. Model shoot’s for me is a time where i can create an image, and be as artistic as i like, to also test out different lighting situations, and places. I start with a mood board, which seems to spiral out of control with ideas, and because of my impatience to get a team of hairstylist, makeup artists, and fashion stylists together, i end up doing it all. I keep promising myself to delegate, with my background as a seamstress, and beauty therapist, it drives me to stay at the front line of things.
I have a mental list of everyday people i would love to take pictures of, and also a project of inspirational challenged people, so many pictures to take, thank goodness for the digital age, and hard drives. My photography has taken me to another level, where i look at everything so differently. when i watch movies i pause every so often to look at the picture frame, I’m always looking at shadows from natural light, and realise how beautiful daylight can really be at certain times of the day.
I am not sure where i first saw Trissan, but i remember that i saw her a year or maybe more ago, and did contact Trissan to do a model shoot, which never happened, but time moved so quick, and after all this time i finally caught up with her. My intention was to do just a studio shoot, but couldn’t resist doing some images out on location. After a few hours of doing makeup, hair, and dress, we headed out, but the intended space was closed due to it being on a Sunday. As we all know unless your wrapped in a fur coat, outside is not really an option in Febuary in the UK, and i wasn’t prepared to make my model freeze (this time lol). Then an opportunity came my way, and i got the chance to shoot in a cool location. Gavills auctioneers and valuers. Gavills is based in Birmingham Digbeth, and its an aladdin’s cave of spectacular antiques ranging from the period of 1870 up to 1970’s with also Art Nouveau, Art Deco 50’s and Scandinavian 60’s, and vintage fashion style. I could have spent so much time stepping back in time, with the array of things to look at, and Matt at Gavills is extremely knowledgeable about most of the pieces there, i have my eye on something there that i hope to treat myself to, if its still there when i go back.
Although inside, it was still cold for Trissan who only had the wedding dress on. Trissan was very professional, and a pleasure to work with, truly a beautiful young lady inside and out, i wish her well in all her endeavours, and look forward to working with her again in the future.
Big thank you to Curio Bridal Collections, for the dress shoes, and headdress.
